About Us

HCI® Steel Building Systems was founded in Alaska in 1981 to service the needs of such companies as ARCO, British Petroleum, Sohio, US Navy and the US Army Corps of Engineers.  Those early customers demanded a high level of quality and conformance to their specifications.  Whereas most metal building manufacturers have their origins in the agricultural markets, these are very simple when compared to the institutional and industrial construction markets.  These clients are highly technical and very demanding  of quality and adherence to strict specifications.  This initial demand worked to the long term advantage of HCI, by keeping it on the leading edge of technology.

In 1986 HCI relocated to our present site in Arlington, WA where the plant now cover over 3 acres of floor space with and additional seven acres of outside storage.  

Our equipment allows for more aggressive lead times.  We can design and fabricate a much larger range of buildings efficiently, particularly the large wide span buildings in excess of 500’.  Our purlin mill gives us the ability to produce longer bays and significantly broadens the secondary framing products available to or engineers and component customers.  The new CNC  Saw / Drill Line , with the capacity to process wide flange mill beams up to 40 inches deep, makes HCI very competitive in the conventional structural buildings and industrial facilities market. 

HCI® Steel Building Systems is now a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. allowing for an even better level of customer commitment. 

Today HCI Steel Building Systems manufactures pre-engineered steel building systems, self storage facilities and multi-story buildings in the most technically advanced facility of its kind in North America.  Projects often include arenas, churches, schools, manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
